How to do a Quick Closet Cleanse - Toss or Keep?

Here we are at the start of 2018 and the New Year resolutions have been made, goals are written down and the vision board is posted on the fridge. Awesome, but besides these “Get your mind right so I can bust through my goals” tactics, my New Year MUST-DO is to declutter my house. I always start with my own REFINE Closet Cleanse because a clean closet makes for a clear mind and deciding what to wear should be one of the easiest decisions of your day.

1. Does it reflect my personal STYLE today?
There was a point in my life, where I wouldn’t be caught dead in stripes. All of a sudden stripes don’t seem so bad. They seemed cool even! Oh and vertical stripes make me look taller (I’m 4’11” so I’ll take it where I can get it). The best thing about personal style is that it can evolve, just like you. Your personal style is just that, personal, so only keep the pieces that feel the most YOU.
2. Is it FUNCTIONAL for your current lifestyle?
Working out 5 days a week used to be your thing, but now you work 45+ hours a week, have 2 kids and got a dog. You may have to face the fact that your daily schedule is changing. Hitting the gym 3 days a week may be your new norm. Still, a totally respectable amount of reps and sets, but maybe you don’t need 15 pairs of sweatpants or tanks. Life is moving forward and you must adapt (with a smile). If you have the right pieces to get you through all the different parts of your lifestyle, toss the excess!
3. Does it really FIT the body I have now?
This question is a touchy one I know, but FIT IS EVERYTHING. Our bodies are capable of amazing things from partying all night, completing a triathlon to giving birth. Regardless if over the years our bodies have become bigger or smaller, there are clothes out there that are made to give us the most flattering fit. No need to squeeze yourself into those size 4’s until you can’t enjoy your food or worse you can’t breath! You’ll live without Pre-Dad bod lucky tee or your pre-baby skinny jeans. I PROMISE! Keep what fits, toss the rest!
If you answered “YES” to ALL 3 questions, then it’s a keeper! Otherwise, toss it out and move on!
